The MPG 271QRX QD-OLED is a good option to consider when upgrading your display. With its 27-inch QD-OLED panel, rich colors and deep contrast enhance both gaming and general multimedia use. It’s a great choice for competitive gamers with fast-paced games due to its 240Hz refresh rate and quick response time. The HDR is pretty good, although it may not reach the peak brightness some users are expecting. The design is practical with adjustable ergonomics, and connectivity options cover most needs. While it’s on the pricier side, for performance and features, it’s a worthwhile consideration for those seeking a high-quality monitor.

This monitor has a very competitive price, it looks amazing in any type of content and is very responsive for competitive players. Massive upgrade over IPS, my last monitor being a VG259QM. Good stand unlike some of those weird tri arm stands that don’t work for all desks.
Major pros:
*Cheapest 360hz 1440p OLED in the US.
*Great OLED burn in protection features.
*On screen crosshair is really good and changes color frequently to both aid in the visibility of it and prevent burn in.
*Tons of color options, including a very vibrant option for people that like that (makes white skin look orange)
*KVM switch which is something other monitors with the same panel often lack
*True HDMI 2.1 which will allow you to disable DSC in a future firmware update
*Graphene cooling solution so it does not have a fan which means it makes less noise and has no chance of mechanical part failure.
*Higher overall brightness compared to other monitors with the same panel when set to True Black 400 HDR mode.
It does have some small minor issues though which I will list here, none are a big deal:
*HDR 1000 mode has aggressive ABL but it does not need to, even when peak highlights are only around 400 nits it still limits the rest of the screen massively compared to the True Black 400 mode.
*Inconsistency between units when it comes to power supply, I bought two of these, one makes a click sound when I turn it on and off, the other does not. I have no idea why, but it could be a sign of damage.
*The bottom bezel with the msi logo is grey, would look better if it was black and the msi logo was dark grey instead of white.
*Bezels are a little too thin at the top so you cannot put many types of webcams on the monitor without them directly touching the screen which may damage it.
*OLED screens have a coating that is extremely fragile, you can permanently scratch the coating by wiping it with certain brands of paper towels or even just touching it with your fingernail if it’s sharp enough.

This monitor is seriously impressive. The colors are incredibly vibrant, and everything looks sharp whether I’m gaming or watching movies. The OLED panel makes a noticeable difference compared to regular monitors, and the slim design fits well on my desk.
Setup was easy, just had to connect the mount to the monitor and the monitor already came with the necessary cables to plug into my desktop.
What really stands out is the performance. With a 360Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time, the gameplay feels super smooth.
HDR is solid too. Dark scenes actually stay dark without losing detail, thanks to DisplayHDR True Black 400. Plus, MSI’s OLED Care 2.0 helps prevent burn-in, which is reassuring for long gaming sessions.
Overall, if you want an OLED gaming monitor with great visuals and performance, this one’s definitely worth it.

The MSI MPG 271QRX is an exceptional gaming monitor that delivers a premium experience for both competitive gamers and content creators. With its impressive combination of cutting-edge technology, sleek design, and user-friendly features, this monitor stands out as a top contender in the 27-inch QHD gaming monitor market.
### **Display Quality**
The 27-inch QHD (2560×1440) resolution provides stunning clarity and detail, making games and multimedia content look incredibly sharp. The monitor boasts a fast 240Hz refresh rate, which ensures buttery-smooth gameplay, especially in fast-paced titles like first-person shooters and racing games. Combined with a 1ms response time, motion blur is virtually eliminated, giving you a competitive edge in gaming.
The inclusion of Quantum Dot technology enhances color accuracy and vibrancy, covering 97% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Whether you’re gaming, editing photos, or watching movies, the colors pop with incredible depth and realism. The HDR400 certification further elevates the visual experience, offering better contrast and brightness in supported games and media.
### **Design and Build**
The MSI MPG 271QRX features a sleek, modern design with slim bezels that make it perfect for multi-monitor setups. The stand is both sturdy and adjustable, allowing for tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustments to achieve the perfect ergonomic position. The monitor also supports VESA mounting, giving you even more flexibility in how you set up your workspace.
The RGB lighting on the back of the monitor adds a touch of flair, and it can be customized using MSI’s Mystic Light software to match your gaming setup. While this is a nice aesthetic touch, it doesn’t detract from the monitor’s overall functionality.
### **Performance**
The 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time make this monitor a dream for competitive gamers. It supports Adaptive-Sync technology, which is compatible with both NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync, ensuring tear-free and stutter-free gameplay across a wide range of hardware configurations.
The monitor also features MSI’s exclusive Gaming OSD app, which allows you to adjust settings directly from your desktop or smartphone. This is a huge convenience, as it eliminates the need to fumble with physical buttons on the monitor.
### **Connectivity**
The MSI MPG 271QRX is well-equipped in terms of connectivity options. It includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, and a USB-C port with 65W power delivery, making it versatile for connecting to gaming consoles, PCs, and even laptops. The USB-C port is particularly useful for modern laptops, as it can handle video, data, and power delivery simultaneously.
### **Value for Money**
While the MSI MPG 271QRX is positioned in the premium segment, it offers excellent value for money given its feature set. The combination of a high refresh rate, excellent color accuracy, and robust build quality makes it a worthwhile investment for gamers and professionals alike.
### **Conclusion**
The MSI MPG 271QRX is a standout monitor that excels in both performance and design. Its fast refresh rate, stunning visuals, and versatile connectivity options make it a top choice for gamers and content creators. If you’re looking for a high-quality 27-inch QHD monitor that delivers on all fronts, the MSI MPG 271QRX is definitely worth considering.

– Stunning QHD display with Quantum Dot technology
– 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time
– Excellent color accuracy and HDR support

This monitor is a CERTIFIED FREAK. Now that my eyes have experienced QD-OLED I have been totally ruined. Nothing else looks good anymore. I have a 2023 16″ MBP and a 2024 15″ MBA and even though the MBP has a better display than the MBA, it looks like trash (exaggerating) compared to the MSI monitor. Seriously though, the MBP display is very quality, but it’s just not quite as good as the QD-OLED, which I guess is to be expected.
I was in the market for a monitor that would connect to my laptops with a single cable (i.e., USB-C PD) and this thing delivers. I was doing a good amount of searching and AFAIK very few monitors can deliver 90 W through the USB-C port. That alone was a huge benefit for me, since the MBP comes with a 140 W adapter and the monitors that have 15 W PD just wouldn’t cut it. That kind of PD wouldn’t even cut it for the MBA which comes with a 35 W adapter.
I love love love this monitor. I upgraded from a 27″ Dell (model S2721DGF) which was great in every way except it didn’t have USB-C PD. Connecting to my laptops wasn’t a huge problem since the MBP has a HDMI port but the MBA only has USB-C ports and so I was having to use an adapter. And of course I would have to have a power cable plugged in to the laptops if I wanted to use them in clamshell mode. Not anymore!! Now my desk setup is that much more streamlined.
Oh and by the way can we talk about the ungodly refresh rate and response time/input lag? These things aren’t at all important if you’re not gaming, but if you are… oh boy. I game on Xbox Series X and PS5 which can display 4K or 2K at 120 Hz, so the beastly 360 Hz of the MSI monitor isn’t even being taken full advantage of. The Dell monitor can display 2K at 120 Hz as well (it’s actually spec’d to deliver 144 Hz over HDMI for gaming on a PC), and its response time was 1-4 milliseconds. The MSI monitor’s response time, however, is 0.03 milliseconds. Response time is HUGEly important if you’re playing FPS games online. I have a 4K 120 Hz OLED Sony Bravia 8 but unfortunately its response time is quite poor for FPS games. Part of the difference I was experiencing with the Bravia 8 compared to the Dell S2721DGF may have been due to screen size (55″ vs 27″), but I think it had more to do with response time / input lag. I preferred the 1440p at 120 Hz on the Dell monitor over the 4K at 120 Hz of the Bravia 8 TV.
Cons: My only complaint is that MacOS interprets the monitor as an external drive and whenever I unplug or turn off the MacBooks the “Disk Not Ejected Properly” notification appears. It doesn’t matter if you “eject” the monitor “NO NAME” from the Finder window or Desktop icon before unplugging or turning off because since it’s still connected it just reappears as an external drive. There have been 3 or 4 firmware updates for the monitor since it came out last year, but in order to install them you need a Windows PC with a DisplayPort 1.4a port and a USB-A port. You connect the monitor to the PC with the included USB-A to USB-B and DisplayPort cables, install the Gaming Intelligence app, and proceed. I haven’t done this yet because like I said I use Apple MacBooks, but I’m going to borrow a PC from someone and update the firmware. I’ll report back here on whether or not that solves the issue of MacOS detecting the monitor as an external drive. The other problem is that after sleeping or shutting down or disconnecting the laptops from the USB-C cable the monitor will turn itself on and off again several times. I have not figured out how long or how many times or when this happens. It will go from being in standby mode with a black screen and the power LED indicator colored orange (which is what it should be when nothing is delivering an image, to “on” with a black screen and the power LED indicator colored white (which it should not be doing). I’m hopeful that after updating the firmware both this and the external drive problem will be remedied.
In summary: the MSI MPG 271 QRX QD-OLED monitor is basically flawless. I don’t think it has any competition at the moment. I’m looking forward to even further enhancing my desktop setup with the MSI MPG MT201R monitor arm. I know there are a lot of different monitor arms out there, but after such a positive experience with this monitor (my first ever MSI product) I feel no need to try anything else.
